George H. Niederauer


Archbishop George H. Niederauer was born in 1936 in Los Angeles, California. He has studied at Stanford University, St. John’s Seminary, Catholic University of America, Loyola University, and earned a doctorate in English from the University of Southern California. In 1994 he was named the eight bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City and in he succeeded his former high school classmate, William Levada, as the Archbishop of San Francisco in 2005.
