Q: Share a bit about your background and ministry.

A: I work as a therapist supporting couples and individuals on their healing journey. I have worked in crisis intervention and high schools. I was a former volunteer in youth ministry and currently volunteer in marriage prep ministry. I pursued counseling as a career because I wanted to help people. It's an honor and privilege to have a front-row seat to witness the healing of Christ take place in the counseling room!

Q: Tell us about your personal journey of healing.

A: When I was in high school, my youth minister personally invited me to follow Jesus and that healed my overreliance on what other people think of me.

Q: How have the sacraments played a role in your healing?

A: The Sacrament of Marriage has brought much healing into my heart to trust and be more vulnerable. It's humbling to have your flaws highlighted when you unintentionally hurt your beloved, but marriage has also helped me to step out of my comfort zone, put out into the deep, and grow—especially in the areas of perfectionism.

Q: What piece of advice or encouragement would you give to someone who is struggling to find healing from the “wounds of life”?

A: The only way to heal, is through acknowledging what you've experienced. Avoiding difficult emotions leads to more challenges in the long run. It's counterintuitive, but you have to face the pain in order to find healing and for it to pass. There is no resurrection without the cross.
