Ave Maria Press created a local chapter supporting Catholic Relief Services, an organization that helps the poor and vulnerable overseas on behalf of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

The nonprofit organization responds to major emergencies, works to fight disease and poverty, and nurtures just and peaceful societies across the globe. CRS is motivated by the Gospel to preserve the dignity of all human life, to foster charity and justice, and to embody Catholic social and moral teaching.

As a local CRS chapter, employees of Ave Maria Press who are members of the chapter lobby local members of Congress on issues of funding and importance to CRS. We also participate in service projects that aid people in our local community, refugees, and other CRS causes.

Projects:

Ave Maria Press employees/Ave CRS Chapter members participated in soup competition organized by the accounting department in honor of the NCAA Sweet 16. Employees were able to select their favorite(s) by putting a dollar in a CRS Rice Bowl in front of their choices.
The winner was Rose Wright, who took home the top prize, the golden ladle, for her Thai Butternut Squash and Coconut Soup. CRS was the big winner, however. We raised $185 for the Rice Bowl.

Ave Maria Press employees/Ave CRS Chapter members volunteered at the local Food Bank of Northern Indiana on December 7, 2022.

Ave Maria Press employees/Ave CRS Chapter members decorate giving trees for St. Vincent de Paul Society and Broadway Christian Church. (November 16, 2022) The chapter adopted a family for St. Vincent's and is also collecting food items for Broadway's food pantry.

Team Ave recently participated in the 2022 St. Joseph County, Indiana, CROP Hunger Walk to bring awareness to hunger in our community and throughout the world.
