Two men in the Congregation of Holy Cross, United States Conference of Priests and Brothers, will profess final vows and be ordained deacons this weekend.

Rev. Thomas J. O’Hara, C.S.C., provincial superior, will receive the vows of Michael P. Palmer, C.S.C., and Ryan J. Pietrocarlo, C.S.C., at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame. They will be ordained deacons by Most Rev. Arthur J. Colgan, Bishop of the Diocese of Chosica, Lima, Peru, at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the Moreau Seminary Chapel.

Palmer is the fourth of seven sons of Warren and Victoria Palmer of Berkley, Michigan. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Notre Dame in 2011, where he earned a master of divinity degree in 2016. Palmer entered the Congregation of Holy Cross in 2007 as an Old Collegian. He made his first profession of vows on July 28, 2012.

Palmer will serve his diaconate year at Christ the King Catholic Church, South Bend, Indiana, and is training to become a military chaplain while serving as a first lieutenant in the Army Reserves.

Pietrocarlo is the eldest of two children of Joe and Karen Pietrocarlo of East Rochester, New York. He received a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry from Notre Dame in 2011, where he earned his master of divinity degree in 2016. He entered Holy Cross in August 2007 as an Old Collegian. He made his first profession on July 28, 2012.

Pietrocarlo will serve as a deacon at St. Adalbert/St. Casimir Parish in South Bend.

The two will be ordained priests of Holy Cross next spring.

The final vows Mass will be broadcast live on the Notre Dame Campus Ministry website.
