Ave Maria Press’s forthcoming release, The Order of Celebrating Matrimony Ritual Cards, has been approved by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops as an official liturgical document.

This all-in-one wedding resource for parish ministers is revised to include the new, expanded introduction, a new scripture reading, optional blessings for the arras and lazo, and new appendices for blessing an engaged couple and for renewal of wedding vows. With the changes to The Order of Celebrating Matrimony, the number of ritual cards has increased from 88 to 144, and the number of tabs in the package has increased from 15 to 19.

The new ritual cards replace the product formerly known as the Rite of Marriage Ritual Cards. They are available for purchase separately or as part of The Order of Celebrating Matrimony Complete Set, which includes a ceremonial binder. The binder also is available by itself.

Features of the new ritual cards include:

  • A complete set of 144, three-hole-punched cards with 19 corresponding tabs
  • Approved text from The Order of Celebrating Matrimony
  • A single scripture reading, prayer, or blessing on each card
  • Printed in large, bold, easy-to-read type

All parishes are required to use The Order of Celebrating Matrimony by December 30, 2016. Parishes may begin to switch from the Rite of Marriage to The Order of Celebrating Matrimony at any time.

The Order of Celebrating Matrimony also directly corresponds to the 2016 edition of Together for Life, the most trusted source for wedding planning in the Catholic Church for almost fifty years, with more than nine-million copies sold.

The Order of Celebrating Matrimony Complete Set is ideal as an ordination, anniversary, or all-occasion gift for any priest or deacon.
