The Anniversary of St. Andre's Canonization Inaugurates "Year of the Brother" for Holy Cross

On October 17, 2010, the Congregation of Holy Cross celebrated the canonization of Brother André Bessette, C.S.C., by Pope Benedict XVI. Known popularly as the "miracle man of Montreal," Brother André Bessette, C.S.C.—an unassuming, uneducated porter—was known to millions for his humble ministry to the sick and needy and is the first Holy Cross religious to be canonized.

Msgr. Stephen Rossetti to Release Study of American Priesthood at CUA Symposium

On October 5th, 2011, Msgr. Stephen J. Rossetti, priest of the Diocese of Syracuse, psychologist, and professor at the Catholic University of America, will release Why Priests are Happy, his groundbreaking study on the American Catholic priesthood. Catholic University of America is organizing and hosting the Symposium on the Priesthood, where the book will be launched and which will feature lectures by Rossetti, Archbishop Wilton Gregory, and Msgr. Robert Panke.

Historic Union in Congregation of Holy Cross

Notre Dame, Ind.–-On Friday, July 1, an historic union will officially take effect when the former Eastern Province of Priests and Brothers merges into the Indiana Province to form the new United States Province of Priests and Brothers.

The merger was approved at the Congregation of Holy Cross’ general chapter meeting in Rome in the summer of 2010. In December, the two Provinces agreed that the merger should be effected by the Superior General on July 1, 2011, on the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
