Alexander F. Hemmerling is a lector and a volunteer assistant for the Confirmation program at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Westfield, Indiana. He also serves as chief volunteer at St. Joseph Retreat and Conference Center in Tipton, Indiana, where he ministers as a lector, cantor, and hospitality greeter extraordinaire.
Alex has autism, and his love for Jesus, the Church, the Mass, Holy Cross priests, his family, and the University of Notre Dame are just a few of the many gifts that make him one of the most joy-filled people you will ever meet. He models his life after one of his heroes, St. André Bessette, striving to live with humility, faith, and joy.
Through his kindness, warmth, and hospitality, Alex brings the light of Christ to everyone he encounters.
