Maureen K. Day is a visiting research professor at Villanova University’s Center for Church Management. She is also a research affiliate at the Center for Religion and Civic Culture and the Institute for Advanced Catholic Studies, both at the University of Southern California, as well as an associate member of Las Casas Institute at the University of Oxford’s Blackfriars Hall.
An award-winning author, Day has written and edited books and articles for both Catholic and academic audiences. Her publications include Catholicism at a Crossroads (NYU Press, 2025), Cultural Catholics (Liturgical Press, 2024), Catholic Activism Today (NYU Press, 2020), and Young Adult American Catholics (Paulist Press, 2018).
Day has shared her expertise with the Church at the diocesan, national, and international levels. With training in both theology and the social sciences and a commitment to young adult ministry, she coauthored the final reports for the 2017 and 2019 national studies on Catholic campus ministry conducted by the USCCB. She also worked closely with Journeying Together, a multiyear intercultural encounter for youth and young adults sponsored by the USCCB.
Day resides in Southern California with her family.
