Philip Zaleski is the author and editor of several books on religion and spirituality, including The Recollected Heart and Prayer: A History, coauthored with his wife Carol Zaleski, with whom he has also written The Inklings and The Book of Hell. He is a research associate in the department of religion at Smith College and resides in western Massachusetts.
Zaleski’s essays and book reviews have appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe, First Things, Christian Century, and Parabola. From 1995 to 2002 he edited the HarperSanFrancisco series The Best Spiritual Writing and soon thereafter became editor of the Houghton Mifflin series The Best American Spiritual Writing.
