I recently finished reading "The Miracle Man of Notre Dame" and was impressed at how enlightening and engrossing this book was. Fr. Rick Gribble, CSC, did a superb job setting the stage for the reader to not only understand the amazing life of Br. Columba, but give us the proper context surrounding the times in which when he lived. I studied the Civil War thoroughly during my time at the Naval Academy and Army War College, but I gained many insights on American life before and after the Civil War, especially for recent immigrants. Having these insights brought the story of Br. Columba to life and made me really appreciate his humanity, dedication and devotion to the Sacred Heart, along with anyone who sought his help interceding on their behalf for spiritual or physical healing. When I finished reading this book I was left with a newfound love and respect of Br. Columba, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Notre Dame, and the Congregation of Holy Cross.
