Catholicism in Literature

Katie McGrady and special guests— Fr. Jonah Teller, OP, of the Hillbilly Thomists; Haley Stewart; Kaitlyn Facista of Tea with Tolkien; Andrew Swafford, and more—dive into Catholicism in literature, the enduring gift of reading, and the books that have shaped and inspired Catholics year after year.

Each episode features guests sharing the “best book” and the “most influential book” they’ve read, alongside thoughtful conversations rooted in their areas of expertise and interest.

The series also echoes a recent message from Pope Leo XIV, who spoke to members of the Vatican Publishing House about the value of reading and the power of books. He encouraged people to embrace reading as an antidote to closed-mindedness and highlighted the many gifts books offer:

  • A chance to think deeply: Reading nourishes the mind.
  • An opportunity for encounter:  Books build bridges to others, foster dialogue, and broaden our perspective.
  • A way to proclaim Christ: Spiritual books, and the lives of the saints shape the heart, and form our way of thinking and acting.
