The Universal Church and Urban Roots
Feat. Brandon Morel
Ministry in New York City isn’t for the faint of heart but it's full of grace. Oscar and Brandon Morel talk about the power of cultural evangelization, the immigrant roots of Catholic New York, and how figures like Pierre Toussaint still inspire a gospel rooted in justice and joy. Plus, they explore the surprising harmony between the Church and hip hop, and what it means to become saints in the middle of the city.
Brandon Morel, affectionately known as “The Symbol,” is a husband, nurturing father, Catholic creative, retreat leader, emcee, youth minister, and dynamic hip-hop artist. He brings the basic kerygma to life, both in person and online. With fifteen years of dedicated service in all aspects of youth ministry across diverse communities in the New York City area, Morel has left a lasting impression on the lives of the youth and adults he has served.
